PUNKINHEAD

I had to put down my cat Punkinhead yesterday. She hadn't been eating and was so skinny. I was afraid she would starve to death, so I finally took her to the vet. I don't have a job and have limited resources, and I was hoping she would get well on her own. That's why I delayed taking her to see a doctor. He examined her, and could hardly hear her heart, it was so muffled. After an x-ray he explained her lungs were full of fluid. He didn't know the cause, either a tumor or heart disease, and advised the best thing was to put her down.

That was in my mind as I was driving to the vet. She was about 20yrs old and sickly. But when the vet confirmed, I was so sad. I held her as he injected her, and it was all over. And now I really miss her. I am in mourning.

Eventually I will get another cat, but right now I am so sad, and crying as I write this. In a little while - next week maybe. Not today.

  3. It is always sad when someone we are fond of is lost. I know you must miss little Punkinhead very much and nothing anyone can say is going to change that. Just know that she is no longer suffering, that she is now feeling healthy, happy and very young again. I truly believe in a heaven and I firmly believe that He, The Master Creator, has a special place in His paradise for our dear pets. So betcha right now little Punkinhead is rolling around in catnip playing with other wonderful kitties. :)

  7. I cannot tell you how sad I feel for you right now. My little Maltese, Nikky, has been gone for 4 years and I still miss him terribly. You had Punkinhead for 20 years - so many wonderful memories for you to cherish. Take some comfort knowing you are not alone in your grief.

  8. Aw I am so sorry, cats have a way of getting into your heart, she will always be around you. we lost our cat Ebony 2 yrs ago now, and I still think of her, she was only young, 7 yrs old, but had bladder cancer, it was still hard to make the desicion and let her go. We now have a new cat, we got her from the cat rescue centre, she is about 4, and is a girl ginger, just like Punkinhead, they are very rare girl gingers only 5%, most are boys.we too had to wait until we were ready, but Geri has brought such joy to us and is part of our family now.

  13. I'm feeling much better now, adjusting to an empty apartment. I'm actually thinking of getting a dog instead of another cat. I've never had a dog, and I need the exercise.

  14. So very sorry to hear about your cat. Poor little kitty. I have had to put several cats to sleep at the vets through the years. Just breaks your heart. I have not had a cat in 2 years. Just cannot bring myself to having to say goodby anymore. I know how very hurt you are. Take care.

  16. I'm so sorry to read about your friend. It made me cry too as I also have had to put down pets because of illness. I look at it as a blessing. My heart is heavy for your loss. Remember that there are so many homeless pets who would be honored to be loved by someone as caring as you. <3
BTW...thanks for putting me in your favs.
